Perumpāṇāṟṟuppaṭai

About Pattuppāṭṭu - Perumpāṇāṟṟuppaṭai

Perumpāṇāṟṟuppaṭai was composed by Kaṭiyalūr Uruttiraṅkaṇṇaṉār and it sings the glory of Toṇṭaimāṉ Iḷantiraiyaṉ, the ruler of Kāñcipuram. This song in akaval metre contains 500 lines.

A notable aspect of this poem is an elaborate description of five tiṇais (geographic divisions of land) treated in akam literature. The just rule of the king, in whose territory the very snakes and tigers did no harm, is spoken about in the poem. The bards of this composition are those who play on the twenty-one stringed lute.
