The purpose of the digital library of CICT is, besides scientific preservation of the ancient literary heritage of the Tamils, to facilitate hassle-free, universal access to the 41 classical Tamil compositions (from the early period to 600 CE) with a view to promoting learning and research in classical Tamil, thereby promoting an enlightened awareness of the vast classical literary and linguistic corpuses in Tamil.

The CICT Pavendhar library has a collection of electronic versions of the 41 chosen texts of classical Tamil (texts,commentaries, translations,and criticisms), all of which available for cost-free downloading.
