Aiṅkuṟunūṟu

About Ettuthokai-Aiṅkuṟunūṟu

It means literally the ‘five short hundreds’. It contains 500 āciriyam metre verses of three to six lines each, with an invocatory verse added to by Peruntēvaṉār. The work is divided into five parts, each part consisting of 100 verses, each part composed by one poet. Ōrampōkiyār, Ammūvaṉār, Kapilar, Ōtalāntaiyār and Pēyaṉār are the authors of hundred verses each on marutam, neytal, kuṟiñci, pālai and mullai tiṇais respectively.

The compiler of the anthology is poet Pulattuṟai Muṟṟiya Kūṭalūr Kiḻār, at the instance of Yāṉaikkaṭcēy Māntarañcēral Irumpoṟai. Dr. U.V. Cāminātaiyar first published this book in 1903 with an old commentary.
