About Patiṉeṇ kīḻkkaṇakku - Kārnāṟpatu
kārnāṟpatu contains forty quatrains in veṇpā metre. Its author is Maturaik Kaṇṇaṅkūttaṉār. The title of the poem means ‘forty stanzas on the rainy season’. These poems of akam love content belong to the mullaittiṇai (poems of the sylvan tract), the patient waiting of the heroine being the thematic core. As such, the space and time, and the flora and fauna are characteristic of the mullai tract. Again, these poems are in the form of utterances of the akam hero, heroine, hero’s confidant or the confidante of the heroine.
