About Patiṉeṇ kīḻkkaṇakku - Mutumoḻikkāñci
Maturaik Kūṭalūr Kiḻār is the author of this work. This work is called Mutumoḻik Kāñci in that it embodies the threefold objects of human pursuit (virtue wealth and pleasure) with the help of old proverbs and sayings (mutumoḻi), and talks about the transient nature of the world (kāñci).
This work contains a hundred proverbs which are divided into ten sections, such as the ten on the great (ciṟanta pattu) and the ten on knowledge (aṟivup pattu). Each stanza has the refrain - ārkali ulakattu makkaṭ kellām (for all the people of this world), followed ten proverbs and epigrammatic saying in the rest of the ten lines of the section. The metrical form used in this work is kuṟaṭṭāḻicai.
