Kainnilai is a collection of 60 stanzas, containing 12 stanzas each on the five tiṇais (landscape-human love behaviour) in the order of kuṟiñci, pālai, mullai, marutam and neytal. The manuscript of this work was discovered only in 1931 and it was published by Aṉantarāmaiyar.
Its author is Pullaṅkāṭaṉār, about whom nothing is known except that he was the son of kāviti (collector of revenues) of Muḷḷināṭṭunallūr in Māṟōkkam. Eighteen verses are in a mutilated form. This work is composed in veṇpā metre. Its stanzas have been cited by old commentators like Iḷampūraṇar.
